Nine months after scoring his last Serie A goal for the Bianconeri against Roma, Leonardo Bonucci was at it again tonight as he volleyed home an incredible winner in a pulsating 3-2 victory over the Giallorossi at Juventus Stadium.

With the game seemingly edging towards a 2-2 draw after a frantic first period, the 27-year-old popped up on edge of the opposition box to send the Juventus faithful into ecstasy with four minutes to play.

Speaking to Sky at the end of an enthralling encounter, Bonucci began: “It was a massive three points for us. We reiterated that we’re Italy’s best team against an excellent Roma side.”

After Juan Iturbe had given the Giallorossi a 2-1 lead minutes before the half-time interval, the Italian international insisted his side did not allow their heads to go down following the Argentine’s goal.

He concluded: “Even a great team has to find the resources to respond when conceding. We reacted strongly and managed to bring home the three points in spite of falling behind.

“We played very well and made very few mistakes tonight, they punished us with the only opportunity we allowed them.”
