Leonardo Bonucci says he is delighted with the emphatic nature of the response the Bianconeri fired out during tonight’s 3-1 win in Naples, following a handful of disappointing results in recent weeks.
After returning from December’s Super Cup final in Doha empty handed, Juventus exacted revenge over Napoli at the first time of asking, showing great resilience in the process.
Speaking to the media after the triumph, the defender said: “We required a reaction after the Super Cup defeat and recent draws against Inter and Sampdoria. Today our response was emphatic, striking at the right moments. We showed that we still have our spirit and proved any doubters wrong.
“Winning and showing the right spirit was what mattered to us this evening. Often being aware of your strength leads you to being overconfident, but tonight we showed that we’re a great team.”
