Felix Brych will take charge of Wednesday night’s Champions League Group A clash between Atletico Madrid and Juventus at the Vicente Calderon in Madrid.

The German official has never previously overseen a Bianconeri fixture, but was chosen to referee last summer’s Europa League final between Sevilla and Benfica at Juventus Stadium.

He has, however, presided over two previous fixtures involving Wednesday’s hosts. The first was on 19 August 2009, when Atletico prevailed over Panathinaikos in the Champions League playoffs, while the second came in last season’s quarter-final first leg against Barcelona, an encounter which ended all square (1-1) at the Nou Camp.

For this week’s Group A tie, Brych will be supported by assistants Borsch and Lupp and goal-line officials Dankert and Fritz. Achmuller has been appointed as fourth official.
