Gianluigi Buffon states that the clean sheet earned in this evening’s 1-0 Champions League quarter-final first leg victory over Monaco will stand Juventus in good stead ahead of next week’s return in Monte Carlo.
The 38-year-old, who pulled off a variety of important stops to keep the Ligue 1 outfit at bay throughout tonight’s encounter, also paid tribute to the way the visitors posed questions of the Bianconeri in Turin.
Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone, Buffon said: “We head into the second leg with two positive factors: a win and a clean sheet from tonight's game.
“At few of our initial struggles stemmed from our own doing. But I’d like to tip my hat to Monaco. Every side at this stage of the competition has important qualities and they demonstrated theirs tonight.”
