Martin Caceres admits Juventus were forced to work hard for tonight’s victory over Atalanta and expressed his satisfaction at coming through a tough test unscathed.

The defender, 27, was one of five changes to the starting line-up made by Massimiliano Allegri and put in an accomplished display as the Bianconeri banished last week’s disappointment in Cesena by returning to winning ways at the first time of asking.

Speaking to reporters in Turin, he said: “It was a tough one today. We played especially well in the second half and got the three points. It’s a fair shout to think that Borussia Dortmund could be on our minds, but we said before the game that today’s match was the most important, and we stuck to our task.”

“Every match is difficult. Last time out we drew against a tough team on an artificial pitch. Yes, we had to dig deep today, but you can’t always win 4-0.”
