Borussia Dortmund will look to shrug off the disappointment of Tuesday night’s Champions League defeat by making it four Bundesliga wins in a row when they host Schalke 04 in this weekend’s Ruhr derby at Westfalenstadion.
Having faced a difficult first half of their league campaign, Jurgen Klopp’s side have lifted themselves away from relegation trouble with three successive league victories and now occupy 12th position in the table.
But they will be given a run for their money against a fourth-placed Schalke side, who ran out 2-1 winners in September’s corresponding fixture, currently fighting to secure Champions League football for another campaign.
Klopp is expected to be without flu victims Kevin Kampl and Neven Subotic while Lukasz Piszczek will be ruled out for up to six weeks after departing the action early in Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat to Juventus.
Meanwhile, opposite number Roberto Di Matteo welcomes back Klaas-Jan Huntelaar following the striker’s four-game suspension.
