The former Bianconeri and Azzurri striker, Christian Vieri, who enjoyed a successful one-year stint in Turin, celebrates his 41st birthday today

Christian Vieri, nicknamed ‘Bobo’, was seen as a traditional centre forward, blessed with an imposing physical presence and strong heading ability.

During the 1996/97 campaign, his only season with the Bianconeri, Vieri played 37 games in all competitions, scoring 14 goals and in the process finished joint top scorer with Alen Bokšić. He left the club to join Atlético Madrid the following summer after having won Serie A, the UEFA Super Cup and the Intercontinental Cup.

His impressive displays for Juventus paved the way for him to win his first cap for the national side and, after forging a successful partnership with Juventus legend Roberto Baggio, he went on to star in Italy’s 1998 World Cup quarter-final run.

Everyone associated with Juventus Football Club wishes Bobo a very happy birthday.
