Massimiliano Allegri has encouraged his players to maintain the positive work ethic shown throughout this summer’s pre-season so far, insisting hard graft represents the fundamental recipe for success.

Speaking to the media at Singapore’s National Stadium, the 47-year-old began: “This group of lads is ready to work towards achieving important goals. Juventus have won three consecutive titles and now start again from scratch. It will be an extremely tough feat to lift four in a row as we have other targets to achieve. The only way to do it is through hard work.”

The manager was joined by Gigi Buffon and Fernando Llorente in previewing Saturday evening’s friendly against a Singapore Selection, and revealed he will continue to give his whole squad the opportunity to impress in their final Asia-Pacific tour encounter.

“Saturday’s test will be a useful one in a futuristic stadium. We’ll get to grips with the pitch tomorrow, seeing as we only conducted a light workout today. I’ll look to hand playing time to everyone before our three days off, after which we’ll keep working in Italy towards the start of the season.”

In tune with his manager’s sentiments was Llorente, who believes a combination of hard work and increased quality means the Bianconeri have every reason to be confident when approaching the new campaign.

The 29-year-old added: “We need to continue working as we have done so far. We’ve got a great group here, but there’s still room for improvement. It won’t be easy in the league because last year was extraordinary, but the team has been bolstered by the arrival of quality players and we could become even stronger.”

Meanwhile, Buffon reflected on respective threats posed by Scudetto contenders Roma and Napoli, before confirming his determination to lift the one trophy that has so far eluded him in a glittering career.

He concluded: “Last year was surprising and probably a one-off. But you could already tell that the likes of Roma and Napoli were taking the right steps towards building an ambitious project. They’ve strengthened their ranks and won’t give us an easy ride.

“The Champions League? It will never be an obsession as far as I’m concerned, but would represent the icing on the cake of my career. I’ll give everything I’ve got to win it.”
