Iachini: “No room for error”

Palermo boss Beppe Iachini has called on his side to raise their game and put in a flawless display against reigning champions Juventus tomorrow afternoon in Turin.

Confidence is high in the Rosanero camp after they climbed out of the relegation zone with last week’s 2-1 win over Cesena, and, whilst mindful of the Bianconeri’s strengths, Iachini insists his players won’t be in Turin to make up the numbers.

Speaking before his team’s departure from Sicily, Iachini began: “Juventus are a great side and could win the league once again, but we need to maintain our organisation and approach otherwise the game’s already over before it’s even started. I’ve told my men not to hold back.”

The 50-year-old, who has earned four top flight promotions in his managerial career, believes there are a variety of situations Bianconeri threats could stem from, but played down suggestions his team would adopt an ultra defensive strategy.

“There’s no point denying it, Juventus have plenty of options: they can break through the centre, cut in from the flanks, play in the air, shoot from range… We need to stay alert in defence but that doesn’t mean we’ll batten down the hatches. Tevez isn’t the only man we fear, they have plenty of important players and we need to be perfect.”
