With the international break now approaching its midway point, two sides with Bianconeri links were both in action on Sunday evening.

Stephan Lichtsteiner played 90 minutes as Switzerland stole a march on their Euro 2016 Group E competitors following a 2-1 comeback victory away at Lithuania.

Fedor Cernych had initially handed the home side the lead midway through the second half, only for Josip Drmic to level proceedings by bundling the ball home from close range just five minutes later.

And Vladimir Petkovic’s men, who are now second in the group behind leaders England, were able to claim victory when Xherdan Shaqiri latched on to Breel Embolo’s pass before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.

Elsewhere, Alvaro Morata’s Spain kept pace with table-topping Slovakia in Group C by seeing off Belarus 1-0 in a Euro 2016 qualifier at the Borisov Arena.

The young forward was on the pitch for the entire encounter as David Silva’s solitary strike on the stroke of half-time allowed boss Vicente del Bosque to celebrate a centenary of games in charge with a victory.

In tonight’s only match involving the Bianconeri, Arturo Vidal’s Chile face Bolivia at 01.30 CEST in Santiago.

The Copa America hosts currently top Group A on three points following their opening game triumph against Ecuador last week.
