Having marauded up and down the right wing over the past few weeks, Stephan Lichtsteiner finally crowned his clever attacking displays with a well-deserved goal in this evening’s 3-0 victory over Cesena at Juventus Stadium.
During his post-match interview, the defender began by underlining the importance that one figure gives to his side: “Three is the magic number. The same as the amount of consecutive titles we’ve won. At the end of the day, it’s always nice to break records but winning is what counts.”
The 30-year-old praised the team’s collective to defend all over the pitch, highlighting the abundance of players who are willing to work hard for the reigning champions: “It has always been one of our strong points because all the players attack and defend in unison.
“We have strikers and midfielders at our disposal who give their all and this offers us security.”
Lichtsteiner was also quick to pay tribute to the Bianconeri’s commitment to the cause and concluded proceedings by saying: “The beginning of the game was tough and we did well to persevere : we had a few attempts on goal, but nothing clear-cut.
“Saying that, we were always on top and once we broke through, we played the way we know how and ultimately deserved the victory.”
