Fernando Llorente was beaming from ear to ear when he appeared on camera just moments after the referee called time on Malmo v Juventus. And who could blame him? It was his goal that broke the deadlock against the Swedish outfit, taking his personal Champions League tally to three.
He commented: “It was a huge game for us and we knew we had to win it. I think the whole team did well and we were especially good in possession. We're all really happy. Now it comes down entirely to what we do.”
Juventus could top the group if they beat last season's runners-up Atletico by a two-goal margin in a fortnight's time. A tough ask perhaps, but Llorente feels it's well within Juve's grasp. He declared: “We have the chance to finish top now and we have to go for it.”
Finally, the striker had a word of thanks for the Bianconeri supporters who followed the team up to Sweden: “I'd like to dedicate my goal to all the fans who came here to see us.”
