Claudio Marchisio says the Bianconeri’s strength in depth has been a major factor behind their ability to successfully juggle three competitions this season.
The midfielder skippered a vastly-changed starting line-up for today’s 2-1 win over Inter and helped the team get their fightback on the road with a first-half penalty that cancelled out Mauro Icardi’s opener.
And after seeing Alvaro Morata pounce to wrap up a hard-fought triumph, Marchisio expressed his satisfaction with the way the new faces in the team passed a challenging test with flying colours.
“Whoever played this season has been up to the task and today’s game was a real test of our mettle. It wasn’t one of our best performances, but we’ve come away with the three points. It was important for us to stay focused, in spite of us already having achieved our target in the league.”
With the club’s “10 out of 10 season” approaching its exciting climax, Marchisio says focus will be required to ensure the Bianconeri are able to perform to the maximum of their potential in both Champions League and Coppa Italia finals.
“Berlin will come around quickly, it’s crucial we remain focused and switched on for that game. It’s been a 10 out of 10 season. Now we have two more finals to win, in order to take another important step after four magnificent campaigns.”
