Giuseppe Marotta says Juventus have identified the right man to lead the club forward after confirming the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as manager.

The club CEO, who sat alongside the new coach during this afternoon’s press conference at Juventus Stadium, believes Allegri’s strong track record makes him the ideal candidate for the job.

Speaking to journalists in Turin, Marotta began: “Allegri is a coach who has displayed his winning credentials wherever he’s been. At Sassuolo, he gained a historic promotion to Serie B. In Cagliari, where the aim was survival, he led them to an excellent finish. And at Milan he won the Scudetto during his first year in charge.”

Marotta went on to pay tribute to the fine job done by Allegri’s predecessor Antonio Conte during his three years at the club, before detailing the events which led to yesterday’s parting of the ways.

“Conte’s time at Juventus was an extremely positive experience, which led us to historic successes and three consecutive titles. This is also the opportunity to thank him for what he did here, for the way he managed to develop the team and the club.

“He’s a winner, and not just because of the trophies he’s won, but also for his personality, work ethic and motivational qualities. We wish him all the best and hope he goes on to enjoy great success in his career.

“At the end of last season, Conte had conveyed his desire to call it a day and we tried to keep him with us. However, when he returned for pre-season, following another meeting, he reiterated his wish to leave.

“It was necessary for us to act immediately and in Allegri we’ve identified someone with the right profile to lead the team: a winning, motivated coach with excellent ideas. Now we begin a new chapter, but the objective remains the same: keep winning. This is what the prestige and history of Juventus demands of us.”
