Sinisa Mihajlovic has called on his Sampdoria outfit to put in a big-match performance and upset the bookmakers’ odds by bringing home a positive result ahead of Sunday’s Serie A encounter between the Bianconeri and Blucerchiati in Turin.

Juventus go into tomorrow’s lunchtime kickoff as favourites given their imperious league record on home turf in recent memory but the Serb believes his side have it in them to come away from the home of the reigning champions with all three points.

Speaking to the media prior to his squad leaving Genoa, the 45-year-old began: “Football is so great because of its unpredictability. We may come away from the game with a defeat but we certainly don’t approach it as if we’ve already lost. I want 11 warriors on the pitch.

“Obviously the result counts but performing well on the day is also important: we need to be on our game. Leaving Juventus Stadium with all three points is like winning the lottery but we’re going all in.”

Sampdoria currently sit fourth in Italy’s top flight, only a point behind arch-rivals Genoa – enjoying their own rich vein of form – who occupy the third and final Champions League spot.

Six victories, seven draws and a solitary 1-0 defeat away at Inter back in late October tells the story of the Blucerchiati’s season thus far and Mihajlovic was adamant that his charges deserve to be in the mix at the top for the way they’ve played this 2014/15 campaign.

He concluded: “You make history with every passing match. We’ve improved with regards to last year and it’s not down to lady luck that we sit fourth – we’ve been playing some good football this season.”
