Vincenzo Montella says he is looking for his men to right the wrongs of last weekend’s reverse against relegation-threatened Cagliari by coming out all guns blazing against the reigning champions at Juventus Stadium tomorrow night.
Three straight Serie A defeats have made it a disappointing month for the Viola boss, who also saw his outfit ousted from the Coppa Italia at the semi-final stages by a three-goal Bianconeri fightback in the second leg.
He believes revenge will be an added motivation against a Juventus side seeking to get Sunday’s Derby della Mole defeat out of their systems at the first opportunity, and is calling on his players to rise to the occasion in Turin.
Speaking to the media in Florence, the 40-year-old said: “We travel to Turin to face Juventus with anger. They’ll be smarting after their derby defeat, while we put in an awful display against Cagliari for which we all shoulder the responsibility.
“Our 3-0 semi-final defeat in Florence left a bitter taste in our mouths. We’ll therefore be fully fired up for the game and need to put in a confident and courageous display.”
