The Primavera's UEFA Youth League fate is in the balance following a 3-0 defeat to Olympiacos in Vercelli earlier today.
After Atila Varga’s sending off eight minutes before half-time had given the home side a mountain to climb in the Group A encounter, Almpertos Roussos turned into his own net five minutes into the second-half to hand the Greek side a 1-0 lead.
Things got worse two minutes later when Mattia Vitale was given his marching orders for a second bookable offence as the young Bianconeri rallied to make an immediate reply.
Unable to contain the Olympiacos attack as the game wore on, all three points were sewn up during a final flourish when Konstantinos Garefalakis and then Qazim Laci notched on 76 and 87 minutes respectively.
The result leaves Fabio Grosso’s starlets third in the group, three points behind today’s opponents who are now on seven. Atletico find themselves top with four wins out of four having beaten bottom side Malmo 2-1 in their own backyard this afternoon.
