#OnThisDay in 1960: Juventus seal fourth Coppa Italia

Juventus achieved their fourth Coppa Italia crown in September 1960 as they defeated Fiorentina 3-2 after extra-time at the San Siro.

Bianconeri legend John Charles got the ball rolling with a goal on the ten minute mark before strikes from Miguel Montuori and Dino Da Costa either side of half-time turned the game in favour of La Viola.

With the final ticking down into the remaining quarter of an hour, Charles’ all-important equaliser ensured the nail-biting encounter would have to be settled in extra-time.

Alberto Orzan’s own goal on 97 minutes sent the Juventus faithful into delirium before the players held on valiantly to seal a fourth Coppa Italia and add the accolade to an already burgeoning trophy cabinet.
