Roberto Pereyra lauded Juventus’ collective display after tonight’s 0-0 draw with last season’s beaten Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid in Turin.
The 23-year-old has grown from strength to strength since swapping the black and white stripes of Udinese for those of the Old Lady this summer and was one of many to star in a resolute Juventus performance.
The Argentinean international gave his own take on tonight’s events when speaking to the Jtv microphones following the stalemate: “We put in a great all-round performance. We weren’t able to create many opportunities because they closed the space off very well and then tiredness started to set in.
“Tonight's result allowed us to progress to the next stage and that’s the most important thing.”
It’s back to domestic duties for the Bianconeri with the visit of Sinisa Mihajlovic’s high-flying Blucerchiati this coming weekend and Pereyra states that he and his team-mates will be putting any Champions League thoughts to the backs of their minds when stepping out at Juventus Stadium in five days' time.
He concluded: “Now our attentions turn to Sunday’s game because it will be tough up against Sampdoria. Then we’ll see who we get in the draw, but we’ve got time on our side to prepare for whoever we’re pitted against.”
