The goalkeeper on tonight’s triumph over the Gialloblu: “It was a fine performance in a competition that matters to us. We want to go all the way”

Marco Storari says the Bianconeri’s top display in Thursday night’s 6-1 win against Hellas Verona served as proof of their determination to go all the way in this season’s Coppa Italia competition.

Following the final whistle at Juventus Stadium, the 38-year-old began: “We started strongly and put in a fine performance, it was important to go through. The Coppa Italia is a competition that matters to us. We want to go all the way in every tournament because that’s what this team has been assembled to do.”

The experienced shotstopper, who stepped in for Gigi Buffon between the sticks, revealed his delight after Simone Pepe came through 90 minutes unscathed following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

“I was really happy for him, as were all my team-mates, because he’s both a great friend and fine player who has only been kept out of the action through injury over the past two years.”

With Hellas dispatched in the Coppa Italia, Juventus will look to do the double when the Gialloblu return to Turin for Sunday’s Serie A encounter.

But Storari believes it will be anything but plain sailing on Sunday, claiming the Bianconeri can’t afford to rest on their laurels against a side out to avenge tonight’s six-goal defeat.

“It will be a different game entirely on Sunday. Other players will be involved and it will be a tough match. We’ll enjoy tonight’s victory and immediately turn our attentions to the next challenge.”
