Tevez: "We need to turn the page"

Carlos Tevez played with grit, heart and indomitable character, but that simply wasn’t enough tonight. Juventus were unable to get the ball in the back of the net, so it was only to be expected that disappointment and regret were etched onto the players' faces after the final whistle.

However, the Apache – like the true leader that he is – came out with a rallying cry to the Italian champions, urging them to shake off the malaise and do whatever it takes to seal their passage into the next round. Despite everything, that objective is still very much within their reach.

"The goalkeeper Roberto had an incredible match and denied us victory. We need to turn the page and figure out what it is that’s not working. We must remember that we’re Juventus and that we shouldn’t be losing games like this," said Tevez after the match.

"We need to stop this trend. We’re a great team and we need to aim to do well in the Champions League as well as Serie A. It depends only on us and on our mentality," he added.

"We knew that they could be dangerous on the break, and that’s how they scored. We shouldn’t be conceding goals like that. That should never happen. Qualifying was always going to be tough, right from the start. Now it’s even tougher, but this team is capable of achieving it. It will be difficult but we can do it," stated the Argentine.

Carlitos also commented on his position on the field alongside strike partner Alvaro Morata. Tonight was the first time the two had led the line together from kick-off.

"The coach always asks the same thing of me. Morata is different from Fernando Llorente: Alvaro needs to be given balls to run onto, to make the most of his speed, whereas we look to play it into Fernando’s body. That’s the difference between the two," explained Tevez.
