Massimiliano Allegri’s league leaders were back in training this morning at a sunny Vinovo, looking to step up their preparations for Monday night’s big match with Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Bianconeri saw their last campaign draw to a close with a seasonal double over the Giallorossi, and they will be aiming to put further daylight between themselves and their nearest challengers by claiming a second win early next week.

Following yesterday’s training ground practice match against Chieri, in which January deadline day arrival Alessandro Matri struck twice, Allegri shifted his men’s focus on to specific preparations for Roma, with tactical work coming to the fore after a series of initial fitness drills.

Missing from today’s workout was Andrea Pirlo, who underwent a series of tests after departing Tuesday’s Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund early due to a calf injury. These revealed a first grade tear of the gastrocnemius muscle in the midfielder’s right leg. He is expected to be fully recovered within 20 days.

Tomorrow will see the Bianconeri return to their preparations in the morning, when Allegri and his staff are expected to deliver another tactical-based training session.
