The Giovanissimi Nazionali wrapped up their involvement in this weekend’s Ale&Ricky tournament with a third-place finish, seeing off Chisola on penalties in this afternoon’s play-off.

The annual competition, held to honour the memories of Alessio Ferramosca and Riccardo Neri, two of the club’s academy youngsters who tragically passed away on 15 December 2006, once again served up a footballing feast for all concerned.

The Bianconeri opened their account yesterday with a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa before falling 2-0 to the tournament’s eventual winners Atalanta, a result that sent Davide Cei’s young guns into Sunday’s third place play-off with local side Chisola.

After a stalemate in normal time, the Giovanissimi prevailed 4-1 on penalties. In the weekend’s grand finale, Atalanta saw off Chisola to round off an emotional weekend in Mirafiori.

Primavera too, take third

But it wasn’t just the club’s U15s in action this weekend as the Primavera overcame Milan by two goals to one in Alessandria to seal third place in the “Mamma Cairo” memorial tournament.

Pellini put the Bianconeri ahead after 27 minutes before Favalli doubled the advantage shortly after half time. Milan’s consolation goal five minutes from the end did nothing to spoil a positive result and performance for Fabio Grosso’s side.
