Massimiliano Allegri praises his side’s calm and composure in battling from behind in Sunday’s 3-1 win against Empoli

Massimiliano Allegri identified the Bianconeri’s mental strength as the key to their comeback in Sunday afternoon’s 3-1 victory over Empoli.

After falling behind to Massimo Maccarone’s 19th minute goal, the Bianconeri struck back through Mario Mandzukic, Patrice Evra and Paulo Dybala, and the Juve boss stressed the need to keep calm and composed as the team bids to continue climbing up the league table.

Speaking to the media, Allegri began: “The boys played well against strong opposition. After falling behind to a defensive error, we dug deep for the win.

“Even when things aren’t going so well, it’s important not to get carried away. Today the boys kept their cool and managed to overturn the scoreline. Just because we’re Juventus, we should never think that we’re going to win easily. All of us need to keep our feet on the ground.”

After sealing back-to-back Serie A wins for the first time this term, Juventus move on to 18 points and the Tuscan tactician was pleased with his charges’ improved run of form.

“We need to work on our game, but we’ll look at things positively. We’re now seventh in the league with plenty of catching up to do, but we enter the international break on the back of two straight league wins and a hard-fought draw away in the Champions League.”
