In a game dominated by the hosts, who enjoyed 66.2 per cent possession and had 21 shots on Orestis Karnezis’ goal, Leonardo Bonucci reflected on an encounter that his side were ultimately unlucky to lose in his post-match interview with Sky.

A lack of killer instinct in front of goal and a resilient Udinese defence was the Juve stopper’s diagnosis of the Bianconeri’s opening game defeat that was not for a lack of effort from his teammates.

Analysing the encounter, Bonucci began: “They had one shot on target. We weren’t clinical enough in front of goal, and it can be difficult when the opposition close ranks as Udinese did today.

“We made all the running out there and had the ball in the box on plenty of occasion. We created enough chances to win the game but unfortunately we just couldn’t make the most of them.”

In spite of the result however, the defender was confident that the Old Lady can reverse their fortunes away at Roma next week and turn the narrow differences that went against them today in their favour next time around.

“It’s a tough defeat to take, we were unlucky today, we just couldn’t find the decisive touch in front of goal. But we’ve got a big game with Roma next week, and we’ll go into that with confidence in our abilities.”
