Gianluigi Buffon says he is eager for the Bianconeri to pit their wits against one of the favourites for this season’s Champions League crown when they square up with Manchester City on Tuesday night.
The attacking threats possessed by a side who have yet to drop points in this term's Premier League may provide some with cause for concern, but the captain insists tomorrow’s test is one the visitors will relish.
Adressing the media at the Etihad Stadium, Buffon began: “I’m very much looking forward to the game. It’s the first time I’ll play at this ground and City are one of the favourites for this season’s Champions League, so it will be a decent and stimulating test for us.
“They have first-rate attacking players, seven or eight of whom would get into Europe’s top five sides.”
While Manchester City approach the game in blistering form, a Juventus side in transition are still searching for their first victory of the season.
Despite a slow start to the campaign, the captain says he is confident the Bianconeri will soon be back on the right track and believes he and his teammates can raise their game tomorrow night in England.
“We all expected to get off to a better start in the league – our current position is an anomaly for this club - but I’m sure we’ll start seeing the true Juventus soon. We’re a united group and we’ll show just that.
“We’ll go out there looking to turn in a strong performance. We want to play our own game, as we always do, and I think we’ll be in for an entertaining affair tomorrow night.”
