Gianluigi Buffon believes the Bianconeri should have every reason to back themselves against Europe’s finest if they maintain the level of display on show in this evening’s 1-0 victory over Manchester City.
The progress Juventus have made on the Champions League scene in recent years has put the club back among the competition’s genuine contenders, and the goalkeeper is confident they can stake a convincing claim for a place at Europe’s top table once again this season.
Speaking to the media in Turin, Buffon said: “When we turn in performances like tonight’s, we look a top-rate team and one that can hold its own against pretty much anyone. After Barcelona and Bayern there’s a group of important sides, of which we are part of.”
