Giorgio Chiellini believes the Bianconeri paid a costly price for a momentary lapse in concentration during this evening’s 1-0 defeat to Udinese.
The defender was part of a side that dominated large spells of an encounter that appeared to be tipping in the hosts’ favour, only to see the Zebrette snatch a late winner through Cyril Thereau.
Speaking to the media after the game, Chiellini said: “We should and could have scored and instead we find ourselves conceding on our first lapse of concentration. We need to pay greater attention, after the goal Udinese deserved to take the spoils.”
Despite the inevitable disappointment of an opening day defeat, the stopper says Juventus will remain upbeat as they look to bounce back at the first time of asking against Roma next week.
“We’ve also been through similar situations in the past, even though they haven’t come at the start of the season. We’ll stick together, we’re confident in our abilities.”
