Bianconeri legend Gianluca Vialli is today celebrating his 51st birthday.
During his 145 appearances for Juventus, which yielded 53 goals, the prolific frontman was instrumental in bringing five trophy victories to the club: a UEFA Cup, a Scudetto title, a Coppa Italia, an Italian Super Cup and last, but definitely not least, the Champions League.
Captaining the side to an historic win over a brilliant Ajax team, Vialli’s performances throughout Europe’s elite club tournament were indicative of the fantastic player fans would see take to the pitch every week.
His popularity saw him become the poster boy of a team that would go on to be remembered as one of the most exciting in the club’s history.
He and his team-mates from that era feature prominently in the Hurrà Magazine centenary exhibition currently on display at Juventus Museum.
