Dino Zoff and Stefano Tacconi could not have dreamed of a better defensive line-up in front of them.
Sergio Brio, Gaetano Scirea, Antonio Cabrini and Claudio Gentile came together to form the legendary Juventus rearguard of the late 1970s and 1980s.
Brio, a committed stopper permanently in short sleeves regardless of the weather, was an indispensable member of a golden era for the Bianconeri as they won four Scudetti in six years between 1980/81 and 1985/86.
In between his domestic trophies, Sergio won everything UEFA had to offer, the Champions League, the Cup Winners’ Cup, the UEFA Cup and the European Super Cup in a glorious 12 year spell in Turin.
6 foot 3 at the age of 18, Brio already towered over his contemporaries when he arrived from Lecce in 1974 and now, 378 Juventus appearances and a host of honours later, he still stands apart as a true Bianconeri legend.
Everyone associated with Juventus Football Club would like to wish Sergio a happy 59th birthday.
