Sami Khedira has revealed he is looking forward to the fresh challenge of winning future titles at Juventus after officially being unveiled as a Bianconeri player at Juventus Stadium this afternoon.

The German international greeted journalists with a speech in Italian, expressing his delight at signing for one of the most prestigious teams in the world: “It’s a real joy to be here. I’ve joined from Real Madrid and Juventus are one of the few sides on the same level.

“This club has a great tradition and a wonderful setup. I promise I’ll give absolutely everything I’ve got to help this team keep making history.”

Winning comes naturally to a man like Khedira, who has lifted a total of 10 trophies during a career that began with his hometown club Stuttgart before moving to Real Madrid in 2010.

The combative midfielder also counts the FIFA World Cup amongst his winners’ medals and he is looking forward to testing his mettle on Italian soil.

“I wanted a fresh challenge and Juventus gives me just that. It is an honour for me to play in Serie A. It’s a very difficult league that pits you against tough opposition, especially from a tactical perspective.”

On the European front, the 28-year-old, who signed a four-year contract in June, said he expected the club to make a swift return to the Champions League final following last season’s incredible run to the competition’s last hurdle.

“I believe that with this team, it is a realistic aim to reach the pinnacle of European football once again. I regard Juventus amongst the top four clubs in Europe.”

Joining an already strong midfield, the German international understands the hard graft required to secure a starting berth for the Old Lady this season.

“I’m here to play of course and I’m aware of the high level of competition, especially in midfield, but I’m delighted to be able to team up with such talented players and work hard for a starting position.”

Following a stop-start 2014/15 campaign, Khedira revealed that he had been working closely with a personal trainer in order to attain a peak level of fitness for the new season.

“I’ve played very little competitive football since March but I’ve been putting in the work on holiday and feel I’m in. I’m very happy to be able to collaborate with people who help to motivate you and give you the necessary attention.”
