It is Friday 23 May 1997, Juventus are in Bergamo to face Atalanta and a draw would be enough to seal the Scudetto for Marcello Lippi’s men with one game to spare. With the Bianconeri trailing to Filippo Inzaghi’s first half opener, they need a goal.

On 54 minutes, their prayers are answered: Ciro Ferrara rises to meet a corner from the right and it is pushed away by Atalanta goalkeeper Davide Pinato. The quickest to the rebound is Mark Iuliano who pounces to nod home from close range, scoring the equaliser that seals the title for Juventus.

This is just one of many wonderful memories for Mark in the black and white. Combative and strong in the air, Iuliano was a key figure in the Bianconeri’s title-winning sides of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

In eight fruitful years in Turin, the centre-back amassed 277 appearances, winning four Serie A championships, two Italian Super Cups and the UEFA Super Cup.

Following spells with Mallorca and Messina, Mark turned his attentions to management as he was given the top job at Latina last season.

Everyone associated with Juventus Football Club wishes Mark many happy returns and the best of luck with his team for the new season.

Mark will be back in Turin for the UNESCO Cup on Tuesday 8 September at Juventus Stadium, a night that will see him reunited with old defensive partner Ciro Ferrara and a host of other former team-mates and Juve legends. More information on the event and ticket details can be found here.
