Paul Pogba’s brilliant second-half strike, killing Claudio Marchisio’s crossfield pass on his chest before poking beyond the despairing Carpi goalkeeper Vid Belec, set up a seventh consecutive league win for the Bianconeri this afternoon.

The first post-match question posed to the Frenchman after today’s 3-2 victory as to whether Juve are back to their best then, was a predictable one. Pogba’s reply too was typical of the team’s number 10 who won’t be getting carried away by the Old Lady’s revival nor be distracted by the form of her title rivals.

Speaking immediately after full time, he commented:“My goal was important to put the game out of their reach. We’ve won and that was our only objective. Were we nervous towards the end? Listen, away games like this are always awkward: whenever we make a mistake and the home crowd start believing in their team it can be difficult.

“Whenever that happens, we need to remain calm at all times regardless and focus on earning the three points. We did that today and that is what counts. We are focused only on what we do on the pitch and we are not paying attention to the results of our rivals.”
