Yet more recognition for the Bianconeri’s incredible 2014/15 campaign has come in the form of UEFA’s shortlist of players to be named the ‘Best Player in Europe’.

Gigi Buffon, Paul Pogba, Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez all feature in the select group, forming half of those who still have a chance of claiming the award.

Barcelona are represented by three players (Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta and Neymar), while Real Madrid and Chelsea have one apiece: Cristiano Ronaldo and Eden Hazard.

This top ten list has been compiled by journalists belonging to each of UEFA’s member associations.

Originally the group numbered 35 players, with Giorgio Chiellini and Alvaro Morata also included before the latest reduction.

This selection will be whittled down to three on Wednesday 12 August with the winner announced when the Champions League draw is held on Friday 28 August in Monaco.
