Paul Pogba, the scorer of Juventus’ fourth goal in Wednesday evening’s Coppa Italia rout of Torino, thanks Andrea Pirlo for teaching him how to strike the perfect free-kick

“I have been practicing my free-kicks a lot recently. Andrea (Pirlo) taught me so much when he was here so I feel I should thank him for my goal tonight.”

The first question posed to Paul Pogba this evening after the Bianconeri’s resounding 4-0 victory over Torino in the Coppa Italia last 16 was a fairly obvious one but well worth asking nonetheless.

Joining former team-mate Pirlo as a scorer in back-to-back Derby della Mole encounters, Pogba’s response was equally as predictable, quickly thanking il Maestro for the training ground tips that brought the Frenchman’s excellent late free-kick at Juventus Stadium this evening to life.

Moving on to his assessment of the action, Paul added: “We were terrific out there tonight. We kept our focus right until the very end. The result was the right one and now we move on to our next game (against Carpi on Sunday).”

And the message underneath the number 10’s shirt, revealed following his goal?

“That was for Bryan. He is 11 years old and currently battling against cancer. I had promised that I would do that for him, he means a lot to me.”
