The Bianconeri return to the training ground to commence work for Wednesday’s pre-season friendly against Lechia Gdansk

After enjoying a Sunday afternoon of rest, Juventus returned to their pre-season preparations with a double training session at the club’s Vinovo complex on Monday.

Mauricio Isla and Roberto Pereyra were the latest to join their team-mates in Vinovo after being granted an extended break due to their Copa America international commitments over the summer. The South American duo underwent medical tests ahead of tomorrow’s return to the training pitches.

While the morning was spent conducting a series of fitness tests, the afternoon brought a greater focus on ball work, with passing and movement forming the bulk of Massimiliano Allegri’s blueprint.

Returning to the group was Sami Khedira, who has shaken off the adductor problem that kept him out of Saturday evening’s friendly against Borussia Dortmund in St.Gallen, while Rubinho, who also missed out on the friendly due to an overloaded adductor muscle, underwent an individual training regime.

A twisted ankle is expected to keep Fernando Llorente out of action for up to 10 days, while Andrea Barzagli will be sidelined for 20 days after pulling up with an injury to his right thigh at the end of the weekend’s fixture. Subsequent tests have revealed a first-grade tear of the defender’s adductor muscle.

Juventus will regroup on the training ground tomorrow for another double session before departing for Gdansk, where they play Lechia Gdansk on Wednesday 29 July at 17.00 CEST.
