All smiles and in typically high spirits, Jtv found the infectiously optimistic Kwadwo Asamoah in fine form for today’s exclusive chat on the club’s official television channel, touching on everything from his recovery from injury, Sunday’s encounter with Sampdoria and the massive five months that lie in wait for the Bianconeri.

Having spent the majority of the season’s opening on the sidelines following surgery to his knee, Asamoah believes that he is not far from regaining the fitness, confidence and boundless energy that has seen him become an integral part of this Juve squad since joining from Udinese back in July 2012.

In his trademark serene style, the midfielder began, “I feel great, really great. I have been lucky enough to have not only my family by my side in the last few months but also my team-mates.

“The boys and all of the backroom staff helped me enormously in what was a difficult period for me. Even in my lowest moments after my injury, they have always been with me and that is a wonderful thing to have.”

Such a sense of team spirit and togetherness have, in the eyes of 27-year old, played a big part in the restoration of the champions to their current familiar position in the upper reaches of the Serie A table after a disappointing first few months of the campaign.

“We didn’t make a great start but we then did very well to return to our winning ways,” he added.

“As a team, we have a clear goal in mind and that gives us the motivation and the desire to keep winning and to fight to the very last game of the season.

“We know it won’t be easy but it’s up to all of us to support each other, even those who arrived in the close season. At the beginning, the new guys had a bit of trouble but now the way they have settled into the squad is there for all to see.”

And how. The contributions and integration into the Juve squad of summer arrivals such as Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic have seen the Bianconeri return to their menacing best, stringing together a run of eight successive league victories since October’s 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sassuolo.

Although a ninth away at Sampdoria on Sunday could mathematically see the Old Lady overtake rivals Fiorentina and Inter into top spot, Kwadwo insisted that there shall continue to be no talk of a fifth Scudetto title in a row in the Juventus dressing room between now and May.

As they say, you are only as good as your last performance.

“We are not paying attention to the other teams around us. The most important thing is that we have a successful season ourselves. Sunday’s game against Samp will be a tough one especially given their big win in the Genoa Derby during the week.

"Nonetheless, we will go there focused and intent on playing at our very best.”
