Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli has been a constant presence in the Bianconeri line-up for over two seasons and today, he celebrates his 32nd birthday.

Barzagli began his footballing career at the raw age of just 17 and spent five years learning his trade outside of Italy’s top flight before successful spells in Serie A with Chievo and Palermo.

Following impressive performances in Verona, the defender earned a call-up to Marcello Lippi’s national side in November 2004 and since then, he has chalked up 41 appearances for the Azzurri.

In January 2008, at the age of 26, he made a 12 million euro move to German side Wolfsburg, where he spent over two seasons and also helped the club to its first ever Bundesliga title.

Barzagli returned to his native Italy in 2011 after securing a January transfer to Juventus, where he instantly became a fan favourite and an integral part of the Bianconeri unit that has recorded back-to-back Scudetto titles.

The 32-year-old is set to miss out on just his fifth match of the season tonight as he remains in Turin while the team jets off to Bergamo to face Atalanta. His 47 appearances throughout the campaign make him the most utilised player in Antonio Conte’s squad.

As Barzagli celebrates his 32nd birthday, the Bianconeri faithful can do nothing but hope that he maintains the exemplary levels of performance consistently displayed over the past two seasons, because doing any better would simply be impossible.

All associated with Juventus Football Club wish Andrea a very happy birthday.
