Saturday evening’s encounter certainly won’t be the first time Juventus and Napoli have faced off with top spot up for grabs...

The league’s most prolific attack against its most sturdy defence, its top marksman against its most promising rising star, its two outstanding performers over the last three months, its two favourites for the Scudetto.

All things considered, there’s a reason why Saturday’s Serie A showdown between 33-time champions Juventus and current league leaders Napoli has been billed as one of the most important fixtures of the season, even in mid-February at this relatively early stage of the title race.

Unsurprisingly given the celebrated histories of both clubs, the two teams have in fact been in this very situation before, going toe-to-toe in a potentially decisive top of the table clash, admittedly with their places reversed more often than not.

Beginning way back in 1933 and concluding in the present day, Juventus.com delves into the archives to tell the stories of six previous Scudetto shootouts between Juve and Napoli, all of which resulted in the Old Lady lifting the trophy by the season’s end.

With that in mind, there are more than enough good omens in the Bianconeri’s favour ahead of this weekend...
