Allegri: “Our approach was spot on”

Massimiliano Allegri praised his Juventus side after they beat Dinamo Zagreb 4-0 in Croatia on Tuesday night.

“It was important to get our first win in the Champions League this season,” began the Juve boss. “I’m happy with the win and the impressive result, as well as our approach to the game.”

Despite the comprehensive scoreline, Allegri was keen to point out that there were still areas where the performance could have been improved.

“It was a good match from us, but there were still a few too many technical errors,” admitted Allegri. “We had to get involved in too many tackles in the second half, which shows that we weren’t passing the ball well enough.

“We need to keep working on our game. We want to improve it and cut the mistakes down as much as we can. Nobody is going to be giving anything away, so we can’t take any matches for granted. We can still get better in terms of our play and the understanding between the players. After all, the wins are all the sweeter when you have to work for them, so let’s keep working hard.”

Finally, Allegri called for his side to switch their focus back to Serie A.

“We want to round this run of games off in positive fashion. Empoli are in good form, despite having lost their last game, plus the match kicks off at an awkward time. We need to be on our guard.”
