It would be fair to say that it’s been quite a couple of days for Gonzalo Higuain. The excitement that began with the player’s official presentation to his new fans on Wednesday afternoon at the club’s headquarters in Turin’s Corso Galileo Ferraris reached fever pitch today as the striker greeted fans once more at the Stadium Megastore.
Having addressed the world’s media, Higuain headed straight to the Juventus Stadium dressing room – via a flying visit to the JTV studio - to get a first glimpse of his new home. Posing for a quick snap with his number nine jersey, the Argentine took to the field for a few keepy-uppies and a quickfire Q&A with Juve fans on Twitter.
At that point, #PipitaLive – the day’s dedicated hashtag – was only one half complete. From then, the J-Museum beckoned and it was there that Pipita was treated to a walk through Bianconero history.
From flicking through interactive screens about former and current Juve greats to gazing at the club’s burgeoning trophy cabinet, the South American showed his determination to bring home yet more silverware and moments of magic during his stay in Turin.
The climax of the afternoon’s events was undoubtedly to be found at the Juventus Megastore as Gonzalo received a raucous welcome from the passionate supporters who had gathered in their hundreds to meet him.
To the tune of deafening chants from those present, Juve’s star shared selfies and signed shirts for the 34 lucky Juventini who had been the first to purchase a ‘Higuain 9’ match shirt yesterday.
Everyone at Juventus Football Club welcomes Gonzalo warmly into his new home and looks forward to seeing him kick off the new campaign in just under a month’s time.
