A passionate home crowd, an in-form and well-organised Bologna coached by the shrewd Roberto Donadoni and a vital European tie lurking in the background. This evening’s appointment at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara had all the makings of a tough and testing encounter and that, ultimately, is exactly what it was for Juventus.

While the Bianconeri’s 15-match winning run may have come to an end in tonight’s 0-0 draw, Leonardo Bonucci saw no need to be disheartened, instead focusing on the positives of a hard-earned away point.

Speaking to the media moments after the final whistle he began, “Overall, we played well and with a good tempo. Given how Bologna have performed since the arrival of Roberto Donadoni in the dugout I think we can be pleased both with the result and by the fact that we restricted them to just one shot on target.”

For Bonucci, with a solid defence and a firm grip on possession, the champions would have perhaps won on another night had they been as incisive and clinical in the final third as they had been in previous weeks.

“We kept the ball well and worked very hard off it but I guess overall we could have done slightly more with the final pass. We knew that going top wouldn’t guarantee us the title and there’s still a long way to go this season.”

Next up, the small matter of Tuesday’s Champions League last 16 tie with Bayern Munich at Juventus Stadium.

“It will be a great encounter,” the defender concluded. “The most important thing is that we’ll go into the game knowing that we can win it. We’ve shown how good we can be in this unbeaten run and we’ll take to the field on Tuesday confident of doing the job.”
