The European Club Association holds a workshop at Juventus Stadium today on the topic of sustainability and corporate social responsibility

The European Club Association (ECA) held a workshop at Juventus Stadium today by the name of ‘The Future of CSR in European Club Football: Towards a new model?’

Thirty-five clubs from across the continent took part in what represents the very first ECA event to deal with sustainability and corporate social responsibility – an increasingly important subject for football clubs looking to play a key role in society.

“It’s essential for all of us to be sustainable and socially responsible towards our communities,” opened Juventus president Andrea Agnelli.

“Today we have the possibility to share experiences with one another: we must understand the importance of our role as clubs by discussing these subjects.”

As the host of today’s event, Juventus opened proceedings by presenting their portfolio of projects, such as those run in collaboration with UNESCO as well as other initiatives including ‘Kick Out Racism’ and ‘Play With Me.’

As of 2015, Juventus’ talks with stakeholders led to a properly defined CSR strategy and, consequently, to the publication of a second report by the name of “Our journey towards creating shared value.”

The day concluded with a discussion involving representatives from FIFA, UEFA and UNESCO as well as the launch of a publication illustrating all 64 of the CSR initiatives currently carried out by ECA’s member clubs.

The work includes a section dedicated to Juventus’ project with UNESCO on the reintegration into society of child soldiers in Mali and the Central African Republic.
