It required a creative spark from somewhere to break down a dogged Rossoblu rearguard and Juan Cuadrado’s quick turn of direction and shot past Mattia Perin via a deflection from Sebastian De Maio ultimately proved decisive in Juventus securing an all-important and record-breaking 13th consecutive Serie A victory on Wednesday evening.

Speaking straight after the final whistle, the Colombian wing wizard began: “It was a tough match, as Genoa are a good side and played well tonight.

“We were determined to win in order to take top spot. While it’s true that we didn’t put in our best performance, we still fought hard until the very end and got the result we wanted.”

Asked if the team was struggling from fatigue during the encounter at Juventus Stadium, Cuadrado stressed that manager Massimiliano Allegri was dealing in the best way possible with a congested fixture list at present.

“It’s normal to have some tired legs, as it’s not easy playing so many matches. The boss has looked to rest us when necessary in order for everyone to be in as good a condition as possible.”
