A difficult start to the season has seen Empoli, one of the surprise packages in Serie A in the past few years, slip to second bottom after six matches yet coach Giovanni Martusciello was in optimistic mood when discussing tomorrow’s lunchtime meeting with Juventus at the Stadio Castellani.

With a packed out home crowd behind them, Martusciello believes his team have a fighting chance against the champions, even if their opponents “have few if any weak points.”

Massimiliano Allegri’s opposite number had this to say of Sunday’s encounter in his pre-match press conference:

“As matchday approaches, this place really comes alive and tomorrow will be a sell-out. We’ve prepared for the match as best we can and we’ll try to show what we can do and maybe cause Juventus a bit of trouble.

“In games against big sides like this, you have to nothing to lose even if the result of any fixture is important for your league position. Juve have very few weak points; if they come here with the right attitude then we could be in for a tough afternoon.”
