David Trezeguet inaugurates the first ever Juventus soccer school project in Azerbaijan on Friday

The global expansion of Juventus’ projects abroad continued on Friday, as Juventus Legends president David Trezeguet announced the opening of a maiden Bianconeri soccer camp in Azerbaijan.

The news comes just two weeks after the club inaugurated the first Juventus Academy in Shanghai.

The camp in Azerbaijan, which is open to children aged 5-17 years old, will take place in the capital city Baku between 6 and 19 June.

Over the course of the fortnight, at least 150 youngsters will take part in training sessions held by three Juventus coaches.

“We’re honoured to find ourselves in a wonderful place like Azerbaijan and I’m personally very grateful for the invitation,” began Trezeguet at today’s press conference in Baku. “This is a country that is growing on a footballing front and we hope to be able to give a helping hand to these children. The most important thing is that they enjoy themselves, whilst developing their skills.”

Following Trezeguet, it would be the turn of Anar Mamedov and Nijat Taghiyev, general manager and project manager of “JuAzerbaijan” LLC, to take to the microphone and describe the camp in detail.

At the end of the event, Trezeguet was able to meet Juventus Club DOC members in Azerbaijan in a photograph and shirt-signing session.

While there are Juventus Academies in 12 different countries, involving 2,500 children, the number of nations now running Bianconeri soccer camps has risen to 18 (in 50 different cities) with 4,500 youngsters participating in total.
