      France set up Euro final showdown

      Patrice Evra and Paul Pogba have a hand in each goal as France reach the competition’s final hurdle with last night’s 2-0 victory over Germany

      An Antoine Greizmann double propelled Patrice Evra and Paul Pogba’s France into the Euro 2016 final last night, Germany the victims of the hosts’ clinical finishing on an evening of intense excitement in Marseille.

      The Bianconeri left-back played his part in the hosts’ opener when he drew a handball from Bastian Schweinsteiger in the box on the stroke of half-time. Up stepped Griezmann to take the penalty, who made no mistake from 12 yards. 

      Their lead was doubled on 72 minutes and there was yet more Juventus involved in the build-up. This time it was Pogba who supplied the cross, half-cleared by Manuel Neuer, with Griezmann on hand to sweep the ball home from close range for his sixth goal of this summer’s championships.

      Having enjoyed their first major tournament victory over Germany since 1958, Didier Deschamps’ men will look to put the icing on the cake by lifting the trophy when they meet Portugal in Saint-Denis on Sunday night.
