Lyon manager Bruno Genesio has termed tomorrow’s Champions League match against Juventus as a chance to turn their fortunes around.
Having triumphed in just two of their last seven games in Ligue 1, Genesio admitted that his side were aiming for a better outcome in Europe on Tuesday, whilst admitting that the Bianconeri would provide them with a stern challenge on the night.
“Tomorrow’s match presents us with an opportunity not only to gain points but to restore confidence to the team,” opened the 50-year-old.
“We’re aiming to get the win, but in order to do so we need to focus on defending strongly, show resilience and discipline because Juve are very good at winning the ball back.”
Lyon will be buoyed by the returns of strike partners Nabil Fekir and Alexandre Lacazette, even if Genesio warned that the latter may not be at the peak of his powers after being out injured for the past five weeks.
Echoing his boss’ calls for a big performance tomorrow night was club captain Maxime Gonalons: “We’re looking to put things right and show that we’re an ambitious team.
“We want to forget the problems we’ve had and try to put in a display deserving of this competition against a strong side in Juventus, who are top of Serie A and also this group.”
