Juventus Football Club can today confirm that Alvaro Morata will return to Real Madrid after two seasons in Turin following the Spanish outfit’s decision to activate the forward’s buy-back clause.

With 27 goals to his name in 93 appearances – the vast majority of them scored in crucially important matches - Morata departs the club as a firm favourite among fans and team-mates alike and can look back with pride on a richly fruitful spell in Northern Italy.

Since introducing himself to his new supporters with a maiden strike away at Atalanta on 27 September 2014, few players have been able to replicate Alvaro’s penchant for raising his game when it was needed most.

The Spaniard’s habit of rising to the challenge on the big stage was no more evident than in the Champions League, a competition for which the 22-year old consistently saved his finest performances during his time with the Bianconeri.

Unforgettable strikes against Dortmund, Madrid and Barcelona in the tournament’s latter stages two seasons ago had Juventus fans dreaming of European magic while subsequent goals last Autumn against Manchester City and Sevilla would make him the first Juve player since Alessandro Del Piero to net in five consecutive UCL matches.

A matter of months later, it would be up to Morata again to create the standout moment of his team’s continental campaign, irresistibly surging past a retreating Bayern Munich defence to set up Juan Cuadrado at the Allianz Arena in a stunning show of dribbling and close control.

That moment of brilliance in Munich served to demonstrate that the Spain international, who scored three times at the European Championships in France, has all the attributes required to be a complete modern forward and, when on form, is simply unstoppable as experienced no less by the rearguards of rivals Torino and Inter last term.

Fittingly, the number 9’s final intervention in a Juventus jersey, a typically incisive finish past Gianluigi Donnarumma in the Milan goal at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico in May, would hand his team a second consecutive domestic double in the only way that he knew how: with great style and under remarkable pressure.

All associated with Juventus Football Club would like to wish Alvaro the very best of luck wherever his future may take him and thank him for two truly excellent years of service to the team.

Gracias, Alvaro.
