Fabio Grosso was full of praise for his plucky Primavera side after two late Inter goals saw their Coppa Italia comeback dreams go up in smoke at the San Siro.
The Bianconeri youngsters had the better of the tie over both legs but were unable to make their dominance count, with the Nerazzurri eventually edging them out by a 3-1 aggregate score.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Grosso said: “We paid a heavy price for two lapses in concentration. I’ve thanked the boys regardless of tonight’s result, because we’re enjoying a great season.
“My only regret is not being able to lift a trophy we deserved. We did well though and gave everything we had. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough and we’ll try and make sure we can go one better in the future.”
